 Description\nApril Women is an exhibition that highlights the role of some
  women who opposed the so called Estado Novo political regime (1933-1974) 
 in Portugal\, and who were persecuted\, imprisoned\, tortured and driven i
 nto exile as a result.\n\nThe 25 women whose portraits are part of the exh
 ibition were some of the female figures who stood out in their opposition 
 to the regime in force\, and through their resistance made a decisive cont
 ribution to the end of the Salazar regime and the establishment of democra
 cy in Portugal\, with the Carnation Revolution on April 25\, 1974.\n\nMore
