 e-dating the foundation of Portuguese nationality\, it was founded in the 
 10th century (more precisely between 915 and 925\, according to the oldest
  documents) and was the first building in the Arouca valley\, with the mun
 icipality developing around it.\nAfter the extinction of the monastic orde
 rs and the death of the last nun in the 19th century\, the monastery's art
