Welcome to Casa da Guitarra (Guitar House), where the sounds of traditional Portuguese stringed instruments and fado come to life in the heart of Porto.

Casa da Guitarra was founded in 2012 by Alfredo Teixeira. Here you will find a space dedicated to promoting the construction and appreciation of traditional Portuguese stringed instruments.

But Casa da Guitarra is much more than that!

You can enjoy daily fado concerts, a permanent exhibition on Portuguese stringed instruments, concerts, workshops and even a place where you can buy your next stringed instrument.

In the heart of Porto, our fado concerts are a timeless witness to the enduring legacy of Portuguese music. Founded on a passion for stringed instruments and cultural preservation, Casa da Guitarra began as a dream to preserve stringed instruments and traditional Portuguese music, such as fado. Today, we stand as a witness to some of the values of Portuguese culture and these two profound forms of artistic expression.
