House of the Prince
Tue-Sun 10:00-17:30 Mon, holidays closed
Built in 1325, the House of the Prince owes its name to Henry the Navigator, presumably born there.
The building, one of the oldest in the city, was probably also the largest in size, especially because of the two towers built in the 14th century, which have long since disappeared. The national monument has served different purposes over the years, such as a residence for official visits from the royal house, the city’s old Customs House and the Mint, which were settled in it for several centuries.

In addition to the permanent exhibitions and the Archive, the Cabinet of Time was inaugurated in 2020 with a series of exhibitions that provoke an in-depth experience of episodes and perspectives from the city's chronology, summoning memory and leading visitors to imagine jumps and more or less probable relationships between this and other times.
