The Romantic Museum is housed in Quinta da Macieirinha, also known as Quinta do Sacramento, a former 18th century country house that belonged to the Pinto Basto family. The building opened as a museum centre in 1972, with the aim of showing the atmosphere of a bourgeois home in the 1800s, a characteristic period in Porto.
After Camilo Rebelo’s architectural intervention and restoration work on some important pieces in the collection, it reopened its doors in 2017.
