Apple Cores is the latest album by New York saxophonist James Brandon Lewis, owner of "one of the most intense sounds in jazz today" (The Guardian) with a "predilection for boundless exploration" (Pitchfork). Influenced by the rhythms and textures of hip-hop and funk, but remaining rooted in jazz, Apple Cores, highly praised by critics, was a collective composition process that took place over two intense and totally improvised sessions. This new album further consolidates Lewis as one of the most provocative and prolific musical voices of his generation.
