Paris was a major centre for Baroque arts, attracting great personalities. The German G. P. Telemann was one of the most successful composers of the late Baroque period. He visited Paris in 1737, after several years of postponement. By then, he had already written works for this trip, in particular a set of chamber works. Known as the "Paris Quartets", they masterfully blend French, German and Italian Baroque traditions.
