Located in Espinho’s Forum for Art and Culture (FACE), Espinho’s Municipal Museum occupies the area of the former canned food factory “Fábrica de Conservas Brandão”, Gomes & Cª. The museum presents three permanent exhibitions: canned food factory, “arte xávega” (art of trawl fishing, and fishermen/workers’ neighbourhood, thus seeking to characterize the Marinha neighbourhood and the local community, explain the particularities of the kind of fishing that is made in Espinho called “arte xávega” and introduce the role of the Brandão, Gomes factory within the national and international canned-food industry scenario.
