The legacy of Vicente Lusitano, Portuguese composer and music theorist, is the focus of this concert. Recently rediscovered by performers, but an essential name for music theory historians, Lusitano led a major debate with Italian Nicola Vicentino on the recovery of Ancient Greek music, a much-discussed topic at the height of the Renaissance. In this recital, for transverse flute and plucked string instruments, a connection will be made between the music of Lusitano and his contemporaries from the International Renaissance period, with a particular focus on the Iberian Peninsula and Italy.)
