Inaugurated on 13 December 1994, the mission of the Doutor José Vieira de Carvalho Municipal Library is to provide local access to information and the construction of knowledge, following the feedback of the Maia inhabitants, fostering the prosperity and development of individuals and the community, thus meeting their information needs and giving them an active and constructive role in contemporary society.
