The Museum of History and Ethnology of Terra da Maia is housed in a building that functioned as City Hall until 1902, and whose origins probably go back to the 18th century.
Its mission is to provide access to information and the construction of knowledge, following the feedback of the Maia inhabitants and considering cultural diversity, through the development of mediation programmes, providing the individual and the community with an active and participatory role in society, with a particular focus on the construction, preservation and dissemination of the identity and heritage of the Land of Maia.
