Five hundred years later, Pedro Penim rewrites the original play, turning it into a creation of our time: “This is Inês Pereira’s farce, innit?/ Then, it’s me who subverts it.” While preserving the original’s metric and rhymes, A Farsa de Inês Pereira [The Farce of Inês Pereira] (de)constructs a space for reflecting on female empowerment, the urgent need for intergenerational dialogue, post-work and the right to boredom.
