In one of my many studies and readings about the history and cultures of the continent, I came across Négritude, a French-speaking literary movement that, in the course of time, also became a brief political and cultural project. As the concept seemed both fair and pertinent, the idea occurred to me to extend it from literature to my form of expression, classical guitar music. I challenge the listeners to try and discern whether there really is a black feeling, a particular way of creating and experiencing music that gives all these pieces some unity.
