A key figure in our contemporary history, everything Mário Soares did in politics - in resisting dictatorship, in fighting for democracy and in the high public office he held - stemmed from a strong, firm and founding cultural attitude. Celebrating the centenary of his birth, this exhibition shows Soares' inspiring intimacy with culture and those who create it, through a selection of works from his art (painting, drawing, sculpture, tapestry, engraving) and bibliophilia (rare books, first editions, manuscripts) collections.
