Set within the Nossa Senhora dos Milagres Park, which opened in 1938 and is the oldest park in the municipality, the Chapel is deeply rooted in the history and life of the community. Its origins, however, date back to the early years of the municipal emancipation of São João da Madeira, the centenary of which is being celebrated this year. Having essentially retained its layout and features, it remains a much-loved leisure and social space, serving as the venue for the traditional Park Festsival.
