Joana Espadinha
Joana Espadinha is one of the leading voices in today’s Portuguese pop scene. Following the success of songs like “Leva-me a Dançar”, “Mau Feitio” and “Ginger Ale”, and after writing for artists such as Carminho, Mariza Liz and Sara Correia, she released Vergonha na Cara in 2024, her fourth album of original material, with which she has been touring across the country. On stage, she delivers the sophisticated pop we’ve come to expect from her, with a nod to indie rock and also revealing a more introspective side. Her concert features songs from the new album but also includes earlier hits that have defined her career.
More info
The ”Praça Brandão de Vasconcelos” (Brandão de Vasconcelos Square) is situated in the heart of the historical centre of the town of Arouca, where, on Sundays, people would gather – whether just passing through or sitting in the shade of the lime trees – around the fountain, which once stood at the centre of the square. This square has undergone renovation work on more than one occasion, with the most recent work taking place in 2012 as part of an urban regeneration project. During this work, the foundations of the old parish church of São Bartolomeu, the commoners’ cemetery and a sheltered area for pilgrims and market traders were uncovered. The square’s current layout is amphitheatre-shaped, with the fountain situated at one end.
