It's with Liszt's poetic sensibility that the Musical-Mind concert series concludes its exploration of the affinities between music and poetry. On 3 May, pianist Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro will conduct some of Hungarian Franz Liszt's most extraordinary piano pieces, inspired by Dante, Victor Hugo, Lamartine and Petrarch. The highlight will be the Dante Sonata, alias Sonata quasi una Fantasia: Après une lecture du Dante, a programmatic musical reinterpretation of the poem of the same name by Victor Hugo and the Divine Comedy.
