Moving between laughter and despair, a small world comes to life. Based on Nikolai Gogol’s original text, this performance brings together actors, objects, puppets, and animated objects to reveal the hidden forces driving an anonymous life, lost in a random office/department: loneliness, the longing to be seen, the struggle for a name, for a place, for a new overcoat. With a strong narrative component and rich visual dramaturgy, Gogol’s words are given physical form through objects and materials in a visual theatre performance where the grotesque becomes tender, and laughter mingles with awe.
