José Régio was not only a poet, essayist, playwright, novelist and journalist. He was also a man of firm decisions, deep thought and inexhaustible inspiration. The creation of the House Museum was made possible thanks to the joint efforts of the Vila do Conde Municipal Council, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the writer's family. The contribution of his great friend Alberto de Serpa was also decisive, as he donated important manuscripts and drawings to the municipality. The exhibition "Régio and Serpa", on display at the José Régio Documentation Centre, highlights this close friendship.
