Rui Fernandes was challenged to practise the “viola amarantina” (typical guitar from Amarante) and fell in love with it. He dedicated himself to creating original compositions with the clear purpose of showing that this instrument has much more capacity than the label that is usually attached to it of being used only in popular or traditional music formations.
