The hatmakers’ labor movement stood out for its organization, class consciousness, and capacity for collective action, occupying a unique place in the history of labor in Portugal. Building on this legacy, the Hat Museum is opening an exhibition dedicated to the experiences, struggles, and forms of organization of workers in the hat-making industry. Drawing on the labor press, historical documents, and memories of factory work, the exhibition highlights acts of resistance and the contribution of hatmakers to building a more just world of work.
