Joly Braga Santos was Portugal's greatest symphonist, with a total of six symphonies for orchestra. His varied musical career brought him to Porto several times, where he was director of the Symphony Orchestra. In the year that marks the centenary of his birth, Casa da Música pays tribute to him with a performance of the Second Symphony conducted by French conductor Bastien Stil. In 2015, the premiere of the opera Penthesilea was another great success in the career of composer Pascal Dusapin.
