Among the great Russian pianists of recent decades, Grigory Sokolov has achieved a status of first among equals, making every recital a unique and unforgettable experience. He made his solo debut aged just 12 in Moscow and became the youngest ever winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition at the age of 16. Since Casa da Música opened, he has been the only pianist to return year after year to the Piano Concerts, with a carefully chosen programme, breathtaking performances and long encore sessions.
