"Homem Raiz" (root man) celebrates forty years of Agostinho Santos’s work and symbolically returns to "Bicho Homem" (creature man), the title of his first solo exhibition in 1987. It is not meant to repeat that starting point, but to explore it in greater depth. Between one title and the next lies a journey marked by metamorphoses, where memory, experience and thought intersect with matter, gesture and instinct.
