The Municipal Youth Centre building opened in 1918 to house the Casino, which operated there until the 1930s. Situated in Jardim Júlio Graça, the nerve centre of the seaside resort which was then seeking to establish itself, it became the focal point for events organised as part of the holiday experience. The building still retains its original façade, and inside there are some decorative features in keeping with the tastes of the period, such as the Ballroom.
